Womens Institute.
The Women’s Institute movement has always been influential in voicing concerns of women. These have included pertinent national and international issues. Wenvoe W.I. was formed in 1992 and is affiliated to the Glamorgan Federation of Women’s Institutes

Throughout the year we offer an interesting and varied programme. We like to include local people amongst our speakers and many donate their fee to charity. A very successful Spring Table Top Sale is held annually.

In 1994 we celebrated one hundred years of the founding of Wenvoe Community Council by compiling a book of our favourite recipes. We planted a tulip tree in front of the Community Centre to celebrate the Millennium.

WENVOE W I

Our main fund-raising event (a Garden Party in aid of LATCH, our chosen charity for 2010) took place at Wrinston on Friday, 30 July. The day began cloudy but clear and we had high hopes that unlikeprevious years, this would really be a GARDEN party, but as members and guests began to gather at  the tables laid out in the garden, a fine drizzle sent everyone indoors. Our thanks to Madeline for organizing the event, to our members who donated the refreshments raffle prizes and items for the sales table, to members of other WIs who attended and to former members Pam and Phyllis who volunteered  their help with teas etc. giving current members theopportunity to have a relaxing afternoon. The amount raised has greatly increased the sum to be presented in September.
