The Village Watch is part of the national Association of Neighbourhood Watches and is linked to South Wales Police through the Divisional police headquarters at Barry. The aims are:
- To reduce the opportunities for crime.
- To notify the police about any suspicious incidents in our neighbourhood
- To use a telephone tree and co-ordinators to alert others in the village.
- To build community spirit so that neighbours work together for the benefit of everybody.
We have co-ordinators for 33 out of 38 localities in Wenvoe and a family tree system
of key co-ordinators for speedy communications. Co-ordinators pay particular attention to elderly people
and people living alone. Co-ordinators meet at regular intervals to share information, meet the Community Police Officer,
recommend action and plan future activities. A popular fund raiser is a quiz time held in our village pub.
